My friend gave me a phone that was made for Alltel. I currently have verizon. Never had alltel. Can i activate the phone onto the verizon plan on myverizon? Or do I need to take it into a verizon store? I received it because my phone got damaged and doesn't fully work and she gave it to me to use til my upgrade in april. She never originally activated it because she had to have a phone replaced and by the time she got it in the mail she had already gotten a new verizon phone.|||Unfortunately, no you cant. You can have a Verizon phone on an Alltel plan, but not vice versa.|||Verizon will not activate a phone if it falls under one of two catagories:
1. The phone needs a SIM card of any kind.
2. The phone is not sold by Verizon anywhere.
If it falls under one of those two catagories, then they will not activate it at all. Otherwise, take it to a store to activate it because it has to be unlocked. This cannot be done online or over the phone.|||Even though the technology is the same, you are under the Alltel contract so you can only use Alltel approved handsets.
